Eligibility: Contests are open to residents of San Diego County. SDBAA officers and members of the board are eligible to enter contests provided they do not participate in the judging of that contest.

Rights: All submissions remain the literary property of the writer.

Unpublished Manuscripts: All unpublished entries must be typed or printed single-sided on 8½ x 11” paper in 12 point font. Short stories, novels, and memoirs must be double-spaced. Poetry does not have to be double-spaced.

Number of Copies: Writers must submit three copies of each book or manuscript.

Entry Form: A completed, signed, and dated entry form must accompany each entry.

Fee: A nonrefundable entry fee of $25 must accompany each published book. A nonrefundable entry fee of $15 must accompany each unpublished novel or memoir. A nonrefundable entry fee of $10 must accompany each unpublished short story or poetry chapbook. Make checks payable to: San Diego Book Awards Association, Inc.

Deadline: All entries must be received by February 7, 2009.

Notification: Finalists in each category will be notified in advance of the awards ceremony, which will be held in May 2009. All category winners and finalists will be honored at the awards ceremony. Winners and finalists will be promoted on the SDBAA web site: www.sdbookawards.org.
